For the retail project I chose to design a space for motorcycle manufacturer Kawasaki. Inspired by and with intention to promote their latest model release, Ninja H2R, I have looked deeper into motorcycle’s geometry, materials, technical data and most importantly, what it stands for.
After researching into target customer I have learnt that the biggest motivation behind a purchase was the need of adrenaline. As a result, I opted for an interactive design. Let me explain. A true biker struggles not to look at a motorcycle passing by, no matter if he or she is chatting with friends, or having a quiet time with the family. It is the sound of engine accelerating that makes the blood boil and excites.
This led me to incorporating these elements into the design. As the client steps onto the platform and approaches the motorcycle, the sound of engine revving comes up and thus a dialog between them two is created. In response to such close approach, platform’s lighting quickly brightens followed by an instant pulse of light that starts from both walls and ends up illuminating the well deserved River Mark emblem.
